January 20th - What I found this week

This is going to be a week for sure.  Lot’s of politics and life that is going to happen this week.  Just enjoy the small things and let’s see where things go!

One more time with CES stuff.  it’s always amazing to me the tech that gets shown off.  There are 2 articles. First one is an Ars Roundup, the second one is interesting to me because I think it is begging to be tinkered with.  Right now my though is attatching it to a Rapberry Pi or something and making a desktop Calendar/Clock/Notification/HomeAssistant screen.

This is so dumb and scary all at the same time.  This bending of the knee to Trump is sickening.  I just got back on social media and now I am going to have get back off it sooner or later.  Damnit!  It’s all just a remix of a remix from the orgiinal idea of a Blog anyway!  RSS is the future along with de-centralized feeds. I’ll post about my media diet someday and how I keep up.  The main thing I love about this article is the response to ‘Apple isn’t innovating’ question. Umm, hey Mark, the only innovations you do are for advertisers and your last three major products Threads (Twitter Ripoff) Instagram (Acquired and not developed in house) and WhatsApp (Acquired and not developed in house) aren’t your innovations.

A great look back at the Aqua interface.  It’s still hard to believe it’s 25 years!

This is one of those small pieces that made me ponder a lot about how we design systems for management and end users. A significant portion of our technical lives revolves around the question of “How do I do it right?” However, the real question should be, “How can I assist someone in doing it?” There are always numerous ways to solve problems, but no solution is flawless. Even in mathematics and programming, there’s refactoring. We must remember that when designing and implementing systems, we must be flexible and adaptable as we progress. Instead of focusing solely on a steady-state solution, strive to build solutions with the capacity to adapt and grow.
