Came across this today and I think it’s an important idea. This is Bruce Springsteen back in the first Trump presidency. There is a time for seriousness, but there is also a time for lightness. It’s important to understand it. Always remember that someone you are interacting with on any given day is probably going through something just like you have to. Try to remember that there are better ways to do things.
Sure is looking like all the AI tools are bumping up against something. Whether it’s adoption, hallucinations or productiziation there will be challenges to bring these tools to bear in the work and personal world. The idea that as more AI slop ends up in the data set, the more it goes off the rails is an interesting one. The other interesting concern is raised in this article around the concept of RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) trouble.
I have always worried about this when giving presentations. I have even gone to the point of making a new user on my computer, transferring the files I needed for the presentation and doing it there, just so nothing pops up like this,

After what I said a couple of days ago, this is going to get very interesting very, very quickly. With Apple seemingly stuck in neutral on coming up with new products. The fact that OpenAI has decided to go after a consumer-level product in this big, big way with the All-Stars from Apple's design group is a huge shot across the bow of Apple. This also comes back to the idea that the interface for computers is going to massively change in the next 2 to 3 years.
This is a book I will definitely read, The depth of this conversation into how Apple has changed China and as a result the world is just fascinating to me. For years I saw Apple as a tool to learn more about how Tech worked. It was a methodical, thought out product that helped you get better at what you wanted to do. The details of this where Apple invested billions of dollars to improve the supply chain that made them better than I think anyone delivering mass market tech at scales never seen before is fascinating.
This is a great and succinct statement on where I think Apple has lost its way.
Hopefully it can get back to great Products and not just charging rents on the ecosystem.

Made a decision this morning. I have paid for an AI service. I know I know, only now, I’ve been using AI forever blah blah blah. Well I haven’t and I’ll tell you why. I am still not one hundred percent convinced of the utility. This is an experiment. I am not going to tell you which one I paid for but I have been using it unpaid for a long time.
I know I have been a little re-miss but has somethings come up recently and fell out of the rhythm. Well I am back. Here we go. Been and interesting little while in tech, especially this week with what happened in the Epic case with Apple. I reccomend everyone read the ruling. It’s in a word brutal and is showing some of the cracks that are happening at Apple between what Apple was and what they are now.
I just like that is recognizes the work of Public Servants.
I’ve been looking at Hockey differently more and more as I age. This is the job of the players and the organizations. It’s just like we do everyday, we work our asses off. We want our organizations and clients to succeed, but we are all human. The difference is that there are people with cameras in Hockey players face where as in our case we don’t have that scrutiny. That is why my respect for Brady is growing after this series and interview.
Watch this. Important for everyone of us to understand what is going on in the tech space and this is incredibly smart!
I know I’m late, been a week. But this one will make up for it I swear.

Thank you John Oliver for finding this.
Hey everyone, bit of a slow week for reading and finding new stuff. Came across this oldy but a goody. Hard to believe that it’s been 25 years since iTools first came on the scene. It was the beginning of the services group and look at it now!

Hope I can find some more for next week.
Sorry folks, a little behind today. Dodn’t get a chance to write this morning. This week has been a little insane watching the world unflod so I am going to try and just have some interesting and fun stories. I might post a rant later this week, but I haven’t decided.
I love the energy of this. Someone who understands that the power of what has been created is more that just the orginization of the event.
How can this not be the theme of the week after yesterday’s performance at the Super Bowl. The layers that Kendrick Lamar brings to his music and art is just incredible. There are layers that we don’t even see until a second or third viewing. For a quick look give this a read.

I have always been a Batman fan. The thing I always appreciated about Batman vs. the other heros was the super power was in his head (and his vast wealth I guess.) I always appreciate it when he was known as the world’s greatest dectective. In a lot of the movies it became about the gadgets and the car. When this version came out I was so worried, but they did an amazing job bringing that idea to life in this movie and the soundtrack is amazing!
He’s back!!! Not a moment too soon. I watch him Monday night’s normally, but with everything going on it might have to be sunday from now on.
What is happening in the USA is nothing short of terrifying. The guard rails for so many things in this life are being strategically and deliberately dismantled. Good luck out there everybody!

What more is there to say about Hockey! There are a lot of things wrong in this world, but the world of Hockey is doing just fine!
Sometimes it get’s over whelming. The decisions, the routine, the expectations that we set of ourselves and what the outside world sets for us. Remeber that you are the only one that matters. Be true to yourself. The self is messy and imperfect, but as long as you are aware and do what you need for you, then you are a long way along. This song has always helped me.
Morning Everyone, little late this morning. Life gets in the way. After the orgy of news from CES, it’s a little quieter this week.
I’m a home automation nerd. Love this kind of stuff and this is a great advancement. I am currently in a rental and can’t really do anything, but I can guarentee that I will be putting RJ-45 to my windows for this. Up until now you either had to hard wire or change batteries.
Theme for the Week!
Public Enemy, Rage against the Machine and Cypres Hill to remind us all to be the change we want to see in the world!
This is going to be a week for sure. Lot’s of politics and life that is going to happen this week. Just enjoy the small things and let’s see where things go!
One more time with CES stuff. it’s always amazing to me the tech that gets shown off. There are 2 articles. First one is an Ars Roundup, the second one is interesting to me because I think it is begging to be tinkered with.
Thunderbolt is a tech that is so cool, but under appreciated for small scale deployment. This makes it a little more real.

Quit putting AI in everything! https://www.theverge.com/2025/1/6/24337033/lg-samsung-microsoft-copilot-smart-tvs-ces-2025
A great post on how Apple is screwing up AI/LLM deployment (I would say Might be screwing up). Apple builds in a way that allows services to be bolted on in very smart ways. The infrastructure is right, but the implimentation isn’t great, so we will see where it goes.
This is the theme for 2025! Remember when this came out and I thought to myself, good for them. Be who you are!
